Our Commitment to Web Accessibility

MendoClick is committed to providing a fully accessible website experience for all users of all abilities, including those who rely on assistive technologies like screen readers, screen enlargement software, and alternative input devices to navigate the web.

Ongoing Efforts to Ensure Accessibility

We follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 as our guiding principle for determining accessibility. These are internationally agreed-upon standards that stipulate best practices for making content useable. As we add new pages and functionality to our website, the results are checked against these standards.

Website accessibility is an ongoing process. We are working to bring old content up to WCAG 2.2 Level AA compliance as soon as we can and check new content before it is published. We remediate any issues as we discover them to ensure we meet or exceed the standards.

We test our website using industry-standard tools such as the Accessibility Checker WordPress Plugin, color contrast analyzers, and Flesch-Kincaid readability tests. However, automated testing is not enough by itself. We also test the website’s accessibility manually by using the keyboard by itself to be sure it does not require a mouse, since not everyone can use a mouse, and by using a screen reader to be sure images and links are adequately described for blind or visually-impaired users.

Where We’re Improving

In our efforts to bring our website up to standard, we are targeting the following areas:

  • Navigation menu: We are currently working on modifications to allow keyboard-only users to open only the submenus they are actually interested in rather than having to tab through every submenu item.
  • Additional testing of old content: As we learn more, we revisit old content to be sure it is up-to-date with our best understanding of the latest version of WCAG as well as our best understanding of how actual humans interact with websites.

This is part of our broader effort to make everyone’s experience at MendoClick a welcoming and enjoyable one. Please note that while we make every effort to provide information accessible for all users, we cannot guarantee the accessibility of third party websites to which we may link.
