Who we are
Our website address is: https://mendoclick.com. We are Margaret Blauvelt, who is a website developer, and occasional subcontractors who make and maintain websites and perform related services.
We use a number of tools to make this site user-friendly and functional, many of which were written by third parties. Such tools may or may not track usage to help the product creators improve their products. Please see our Cookie Policy page for more information.
We do not sell or otherwise profit off any information we track except insofar is it may improve usability of this site, giving potential clients a better experience, which may increase the likelihood that more potential clients will want us to create or enhance their own websites, indirectly leading to more income for us.
More about how and why we collect data is shown below.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form. We moderate our comments to keep malicious, rude, deceptive, and/or non-informative self-promotion and other spam off this site. If we approve any given comment, it will be publicly displayed on our site. We or other site visitors may then reply to that comment.
We also collect the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string in order to help in detecting and managing spam.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available at the following URL (which opens in a new tab): https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website (assuming we allow such uploads), we strongly advise against uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Please do not upload any images or other media which have copyright restrictions unless you own the copyright and want to make the image freely available to others. If a copyright holder lodges a complaint about using their material, we will promptly remove it. If we are legally requred to disclose the person responsible for posting copyrighted content to the copyright holder or to his or her representative(s), we will share any relevant information we have about that person with the copyright holder and said representative(s).
Cookies
Please see our Cookie Preferences page for information about what cookies we collect, how to opt out, and related information.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content.
With whom we share your data
We do not share data with anyone else except what is needed to provide services you have requested. For example, if you request that we create a website and set up hosting for it, that website must be hosted somewhere. If you are to be the owner of the hosting account, we must share your email and contact information with the hosting provider.
If you request a password reset, your IP and email addresses will be included in the reset email.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata (such as the date the comment was submitted and your name or username attached to that comment) are retained indefinitely. This allows us to recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue, sort comments by who submitted them, and otherwise manage comments that remain on the site.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username; the only way to change a username is to delete the entire record and create a new one. The new user record would not, however, be attached to any comments posted under the old username.) Website administrators can also see and edit that information. (Margaret Blauvelt is currently the only website administrator, but this could change in the future.)
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where your data is sent
Visitor comments and contact form submissions may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
